Eaton's B-Line division is hiring a Seismic Design Engineer. The Seismic Design Engineer will be based at the Highland, IL location.

Eaton's B-Line series is a leading manufacturer of quality support systems, seismic bracing systems, vibration isolation and enclosures for the electrical, mechanical and fire protection industries. Our products are manufactured in modern facilities throughout the United States and Middle East, and are used in a variety of settings for the commercial, industrial, utility and OEM markets. In addition, Eaton's B-Line series operates regional sales offices and distribution centers throughout the world.

Position Overview:

This position is primarily responsible for executing and finalizing multiple simultaneous quote-to-quote projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to take projects from start to finish. The candidate will oversee projects and will oversee quality control throughout the life cycle of the projects. In addition, the candidate will work with other department resources and coordinate the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.

This position will support the expansion of B-Line/TOLCO's Seismic business. This is a role that will provide the opportunity to work cross-functionally with other business areas including Marketing, Sales, and Operations. It will require ambition, drive, and strong engineering experiences, with enthusiasm in the product and systems design arena. A highly entrepreneurial sense of urgency along with a passion for and experience in the industry is desirable, along with a drive to grow both personally and professionally. Experience with performing engineering calculations and design application proposals in compliance to relevant industry standards is required.

Interaction with customers and travel to customer locations for presentations, technical training, discussion of design options is required. The candidate will have experience in professional interactions with customers, involvement in Voice of the Customer research, and experience with financial analysis of manufactured cost of goods plus margin and selling price proposals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage engineering projects from quote to receipt of purchase order through timely completion of project
  • Perform engineering calculations and evaluations including: seismic, mechanical loading, electrical, and fire protection per industry standards
  • Technical assistance for sales and marketing teams
  • Involvement in new product development and cost saving projects

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited institution OR Bachelors' degree in Mechanical Engineering with structural focus OR with specific coursework/classes taken focused in civil or structural engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of an engineering internship or engineering college/university project experience.
  • Relocation is not offered for this role. Candidate must reside within a 50 mile radius of the Highland, IL facility.
  • Sponsorship is not available for this role. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US on an ongoing basis without company sponsorship.

  • Work in a group and a one on one setting with customers.
  • Work with other team members to achieve project deadlines and goals

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience in mechanical, electrical and fire protection industries
  • Seismic bracing design
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Technically oriented with high attention to detail
  • Excellent follow thru on commitments
  • CAD solid modeling experience and drawing creation
  • ECR/ECO process experience
  • BOM and ERP system familiarity
  • Experience with product development and VA/VE design work
  • E.I.T. certification; or P.E. certification
