AltaGas - Senior Azure Cloud Architect

Reporting to the Director, Digital Infrastructure & Operations, this role will be responsible for designing and implementing foundational cloud services and capabilities in Azure to support our long-term corporate direction and vision. As part of the technical leadership team, your expertise in cloud architecture and operations will augment skills from other key strategic partners to help formalize strategic direction, guide key business initiatives, and proactively plan for future needs. You will leverage your communication, planning and technical skills to establish and support a Cloud Community of Practice to support and mature the development of cloud skills across the enterprise.

You will:

  • Design and implement essential Azure cloud services and capabilities, integrating your expert knowledge of cloud architecture to support our corporate vision.
  • Act as a leader within our architecture community, enhancing AltaGas's cloud capabilities through strategic direction and skill development.
  • Develop and maintain Azure solutions, ensuring optimal performance, security, and cost-efficiency. Create detailed documentation for installation, configuration, and operational standards.
  • Utilize robust FinOps practices to manage and optimize Azure operational costs effectively.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of Azure services including, but not limited to, Azure Storage, Azure Event Hubs, and Azure Cosmos DB. Show proficiency in PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Terraform.
  • Oversee Azure security measures, conducting vulnerability tests and risk analyses to fortify our infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot issues related to cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to drive strategic initiatives and mentor junior team members to foster their professional growth. Liaise and collaborate with other technical professionals to build best practice, develop consensus around key decisions and mature our practices.

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud-related roles in a large complex environment.
  • Minimum 5 years in cloud-focused roles with in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure environments (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS). Azure Architecture Certifications strongly preferred.
  • Robust understanding of cloud security best practices, compliance requirements, and proficiency with Azure security tools like Azure Security Center and Azure IAM.
  • Skilled in CI/CD tools (Azure Pipelines, Jenkins) and configuration management (Ansible, Docker).
  • Experienced with relational and NoSQL databases (MS SQL Server, MongoDB).
  • Solid grasp of networking practices and security in Azure and hybrid environments.
  • Extensive experience with Active Directory, group policy, and performance monitoring tools.
  • Proficiency in automation using PowerShell or Azure CLI, with experience in AIOps for performance monitoring and anomaly detection.
